We're not great, but we're pretty good!
It took us 7 years to get this group together again. Beth was very gracious and opened up her cabin to us '40-somethings' for the weekend. The cabin (and I use the term 'cabin' loosely, is much more like a home) is warm, welcoming, comfortable and beautiful. The view of Lower Long Lake is amazing. Right now the lake is still frozen over, with ice thick enough for the neighbor's dog to go for a walk across it, even though it makes a few of us nervous.
We started on Friday night with a van load of ladies (yes, we needed a van), heading up north to join Beth. It was a slow drive, due to the fog (and the GPS was a little testy at times). We celebrated our arrival with beverages (!!) and lots of snacks (there are questions if some of us had beverages during their commute). We shared a lot of memories and laughs, and we stayed up way past our usual 9:00 pm bed time (did I mention we are 40-something). And, more questions, why would someone would choose to sleep on the top bunk (and then why that same 'someone' fell off their top bunk, just saying....).
Saturday morning we had breakfast, and Sheila S. was able to join us. More beverages, food, laughs, beverages, drunk texting, memories, beverages, food, beverages, etc. After a movie (aka, nap) we decided to head out for some 'real' food. The bartender at the Larrabee Lodge was nice enough to take this wonderful portrait of us before we left, to have more beverages. haha We returned to the 'cabin' for another movie (aka, nap), laughs and memories. Once again, we all retired to bed after 9:00 pm (although I did nap, off and on, between 8:00 and whenever I went to bed). There is still some confusion about what time we went to bed, totally due to the daylight savings time change.
Today, we shared a wonderful meal together. (breakfast bake -which was delicious, even if I don't usually eat eggs, Diet Coke - I KNOW, coffee & tea). We also took a few photos together before we all headed home to our 'REAL' life.
I look forward to our next girls weekend and hope it happens sooner, rather than later.
I feel so blessed to call these amazing women my friends. Thanks ladies, I love you!
